Silence is never more golden than when you hold it long enough to get all the facts before you speak. The realities embedded in keeping quiet can't be disconnected from the pains attached to it. Often time, it is sweet to REACT immediately we are faced with annoying situation or circumstances. Is there anything more painful than keeping quiet when you could have intelligently ambushed someone with your known facts and figures? Silence is a price for a great prize. It is said that, even the fool looks wise in silence
Silence is a price for a great prize
I remember one of our Project meeting, while upgrading the institution's core-banking application. One of the stakeholder confidently walked into our weekly meeting and practically 'rubbished' all the work done, and efforts infused into making the Project one of the most successful in the group. Everyone in the room knew she wasn't totally right. Being one of the junior staff in room, i expected my Programme manager to lash out at the stakeholder and let her know her approach was wrong and all. Surprisingly, the PM smiled, apologized for the 'miscommunication' and asked that they discuss the issue immediately after the meeting.
Few days after the horrible scene, the stakeholder came back apologizing. Apparently, her rep on the project provided a wrong information and she rode on the premise of the erroneous information. Whilst i was yet to forgive my Boss for being too quiet and silent, the apology came as a soothing balm to my aching heart (Smiles).
From this story, i learnt Silence is POWER-ful. This may sound like a cliche but i'm aware this is one of the mantra of mighty and successful men. I read from the Holy book about a woman who they brought to a wise Son of a Carpenter, her offence was that she was caught fornicating. Those who came to report the woman trusted the decision of the Man, but in an unusual manner, the Son of the Carpenter really explicated the true trait of wisdom by KEEPING QUIET and then asking the 'stonees' if there's any of them who is without Sin. They had no choice than to drop off their stones and walk away.

Often time when we are quick to react, our words or actions may be based on mere emotions. Silence helps us put our emotions to a reality check. We are able to logically examine the situation we have found ourselves and navigate through it intelligently.
We all have the strength to face the work-place challenge. You may just need to put those pressure under the golden law of silence and you'll be amazed how you'll find peace and unusual answers.
So you ask may me how and why?
Because you don't have to respond NOW. It might be a query or an accusation. Gather your thoughts and facts. You may be right or wrong. The moment of silence creates an atmosphere of mental perusals. There are some responses that should come in 2 or 3 years. Yeah!!!
Emotions are Fake. You'll never hear any reasonable decision made based on emotions. Often time when we get angry, our emotions gets into a rumbling state. Silence helps put our emotions into check and assist us come up with a logical response.
You don't have to talk. At some point in our lives, we'd realize it isn't every action that deserves reaction. We must learn to keep quiet and just walk away. Keep quiet and remain quiet. Keep quiet, smile and keep going. Just because people don't react, doesn't mean they didn't notice.
